A beautiful
6 year old Border Collie, Sophie is very active in Flyball and
Agility to say the least but with this comes a few problems.
After the initial c onsultation
it turned out that Sophie has a severe dislike of other dogs,
and an even greater dislike of being touched by strangers even
to have her nails clipped. Sophie’s suffers from nervous
aggression, has a phobia about having her paws touched and finds
it difficult to settle down, even to be petted, for any length
of time.
After
2 treatments, Sophie became more relaxed and allowed me to handle,
stroke and play with her paws as well as perform a full 1 hour
treatment. Sophie’s owner, Holly Davies’s said,
“After the first treatment I noticed Sophie didn’t
twitch down her back anymore when I stroked her and she was
moving better; alot less tense. On the evening she came for
a fuss but act ually
ended up falling asleep on my lap, something that never happens!!
After the second treatment, Sophie became a lot less anxious
in the house and found it easier to relax; becoming noticeably
more loving in the process and actually coming and asking to
be stroked and petted and nudging me to do so. One morning I
even woke up to find she had sneaked into my bed!”
“Presenting
a very difficult dog for her to work on, Natalie seemed to have
no worries and much patience to gain the trust of my dog. Sophie
is a very anxious dog, she does not like being handled for treatment.
However, Natalie soon
gained Sophie’s trust and was able to give her a full
course of massage therapy. The benefits have been that Sophie
is less wary, more relaxed and her performance in the agility
ring has improved, and it’s really great that we can snuggle
up at home without her having to fidget every 5 minutes!”
